The Background
We never intended to make gin.
It was the end of autumn, which meant the end of fruit brandy season, and we had just got our new still and needed to make something! With new gins coming out every week, making one wasn't on our radar—until Andrew had a night with too much Fireball (don't ask) and it inspired him to try something.
His first attempt was to make a cinnamon gin that was a lot more cinnamon than gin. We drank some. It was a dry type of Fireball that mixed okay with tonic, but probably not worth making again. It wasn't until Marko walked in on his girlfriend cooking mandarin and cinnamon rolls that lightning struck. And just like that, something special was born.
Or so we thought. The first trial was promising, but we quickly learned that one mandarin is not the same as another. So we tinkered and trialed through an entire citrus season—56 consecutive batches to be exact—until we crafted what you're holding now. A gin that's found fans among gin drinkers and skeptics alike.
